Renovation and Infrastructure Cost Estimates

This step will help determine the appropriate deadline to submit a RICE Request (step 2). If you are unsure which renovation tier applies best to your proposal, please contact renovations.cfi@ubc.ca

Begin Self-Assessment

• The researcher may need to compile vendor specifications (i.e. data sheets) to submit with the RICE request.
• A departmental administrator may need to request UBC technical services' review on the researcher's behalf for the proposal. Their conclusions may need to be attached to the RICE request.

Start RICE Request (CWL Required)

Once a RICE request has been submitted, you may now submit your application for the IPO internal peer review.

Once the researcher has submitted the RICE Request, Facilities Planning will prepare a scope document in partnership with UBC Project Services. A Facilities Planner will schedule a meeting with the applicant to better understand their needs and follow up with a site visit of the approved room(s). The scope document will require the researcher's approval before moving to the next step.

• Tier 4 and 5 requests may require approvals and consultation from Campus + Community Planning or UBC's Site Selection Committee.

Using the scope document from Facilities Planning, Project Services prepares the RICE and issues it to the researcher.

Note that RICE requests are not required for off-campus proposals.
